How Dental Practice get more Google reviews that works in 2026

If your practice has been around for a while, you’re already doing a lot of things right. You likely already have a Google Business Profile setup, which is a great baseline.

Getting to the top isn't about luck; it’s a systematic process. Based on our own testing and interviews with practices currently dominating the top 3 spots, here are two of the most effective ways to generate Google reviews in 2026.

1. The "Grey Area" Approach: Patient Incentives

In our research, we found that a surprising number of top-ranking practices use direct incentives. The most common setup is offering a $25 credit toward a patient's next appointment in exchange for a review.

The process is highly manual but straightforward: after a positive appointment, the front desk asks the patient for a review and pitches the $25 bonus for their next visit.

The Catch: You need to tread carefully here. Google’s terms of service explicitly warn against incentivizing reviews. Furthermore, you must check your state dental board laws, as offering incentives for reviews is legally restricted in certain states. Despite the risks, it is an "open secret" that many top-ranked practices rely heavily on this tactic.

2. The Heavyclick Method: Automated, Psychology-Driven Requests

If you want to stop being the invisible glue holding your practice's marketing together, you need leverage. Manual front-desk requests often fail because they rely on busy staff remembering to ask.

We use a fully automated approach for our clients that removes the human bottleneck entirely. We recently used this exact system to take a practice from sitting dead last with 3 reviews, to 1st place on the Map Pack with 122 reviews in just 6 weeks. Because they completely bypassed their local competition, their new patient volume jumped from 14 to 34 a month, to the point where their capacity couldn’t even keep up. (Note: This was in a smaller city with lower competition, which accelerated the timeline, but the mechanics remain the same everywhere).

How it works:

• We integrate software directly into your PMS.

• Within exactly 1 hour of a completed appointment, the software triggers a review request.

• The Secret Sauce: The automation makes it consistent, but the messaging is why it actually converts. Most practices just blast a generic "Please leave us a review!" text. We use carefully crafted copy that makes the patient feel genuinely valued. The psychological angle of the message matters just as much as the timing.

Stop Fighting the Same Battle as Everyone Else

If your practice's growth requires you or your staff to manually grind for every single review and new patient, your leverage is broken.

You don't need another generic marketing checklist; you need systems that run in the background so you can actually step back and focus on dentistry.
