Locate bleeding source
• Check responsiveness
• Apply direct pressure over the wound
• Place sterile dressing or cleanest cloth available
• If possible, use nitrile gloves, extra dressings, or plastic wrap
• Do not remove first dressing if blood-soaked; and others over it (this is changing to where you will keep changing the dressing once soaked in blood
• Do not remove impaled object
