Synopsis:
No generally valid rules exist regarding the correct amount of tooth substance removal for laminate veneers. Technically the full range from Non-Prep to fully invasive preparation where no remaining enamel is present and the availability of dentin adhesives implies that the amount of remaining enamel is not so relevant. The importance of preserving the enamel and especially the DEJ is explained. The specifics of varying extended veneer preparations are presented and exemplified with several clinical cases from Non-Prep to fully invasive.
This is complemented by the results of an extensive in vitro study, which was performed with the aim to identify preparation types that should be avoided. Valuable information provided on all-ceramic material options, manufacturing alternatives and laboratory as well as clinical protocols.
In this course the specifics, advantages and disadvantages of different preparation variants in regard to the amount of dentin exposure are presented for laminate veneers. The application of various types of laminate veneers in different cases is presented.
