As a dentist and software developer, I often get asked technical questions regarding how technology can help an office overcome certain challenges, as well as advice regarding hardware and software for their office. Enjoy and comment.

May 2021 ReminderDental Update

5/6/2021 11:46:30 AM   |   Comments: 0   |   Views: 136
How time flies. I realized it has been 2 and a half years since we did our podcast, https://www.dentaltown.com/blog/post/10029/1081-discussing-reminderdental-with-dr-alan-halls-dentistry-uncensored-with-howard-farran, and I thought I would give a little update. ReminderDental has grown a lot in the intervening time, not just in customers, but in features as well.

One of the biggest things to happen for all of us lately was COVID-19. While running a startup like ours during the quarentine can certainly be a challenge, we thrived in the experience. We recognized early the changes that offices needed from their communications platform, and were able to pivot quickly expand our features to offer the needed tools such as mass disabling notifications for existing appointments, while not requiring the appointments be cancelled or service to be disabled completely. We also added new mass communication options using the phone by allowing you to broadcast a custom pre-recorded message, expanded text features, and added tools for those working from home and other services. We then made these tools generally available, not only to our normal customers, but we made them free to everyone, because we saw how many offices were stuggling to get needed messages out using their existing services.

As we saw the financial hardship and concern the quarantine was causing our customers, we stopped billing for all of our hundreds of offices, from March through the end of October. While some reminder companies had a net loss of customers during last year, we grew, nearly doubling our offices during the same time.

In unrelated to COVID-19 news, we added a few really awesome features worth being highlighted here.
  - Multi practice support, use a single login to manage all locations
  - Alternate Contacts (Perfect for divorced families where multiple people need to be notified)
  - Expanded features in the online reviews section
  - Caller ID Masquerade, lets you use your office's caller id while at home or on your cell
  - Hosted Messaging (allows you to use your own office phone number for texting)
  - Additional filters for recalls, adding operatory and provider to the existing procedure code filter
  - Expanded online tutorials
  - MMS support added, send and receive images
  - Premedication notices
  - Day view now shows operatories
  - Ability to enable or disable messaging by operatory (perfect for those practices using a chair for internal purposes)

We are currently working on:
  - Online forms
  - Automated billing with online payments
  - Expand statistics to allow customized reports
  - Online Scheduling (and other tools) for DSO call centers
  - Statistics for DSOs

We just show up each day making things a little better every day for all our users, slow and steady wins the race.
