Synopsis:
With more than 30 years experience in the restoration of endodontically treated teeth, as both a general dentist and an endodontist, Dr. Doyon will discuss empirically observed factors that contribute to long-term tooth retention. This case-based presentation will review the similarities and differences in the restoration and prognosis of anterior and posterior teeth. This fast-paced discussion will emphasize appropriate decision making and predictability in light of current alternatives.

The preop thinking and planning that is described in this course is actually revolutionary. Given that G V Black‘s extension for prevention approach for operative dentistry is now considered outdated, it only seems logical that dual access cavities should be more of a norm rather than the exception especially when performing molar endodontics, and yet this is only the first time I have seen it described. Just like the speaker alluded to, it is not just the CE but the right kind of CE that one needs to become a better clinician. A heartfelt thank you to Dr Howard Farran for bringing together such pioneering educators and practitioners together on Dental Town.

I was glad to hear that some of the 2013 townie meeting endo lectures would be posted online since I wished I could have been Vegas to attend the endo track. I enjoyed Dr. Doyon's lecture especially since he speaks from experience with his own background as a general dentist for many years. He brought up many paradigm shifting ideas that left me a lot to think about as well with regards to endo access/treatment and the restoring aspect afterwards.
