Is it really hard to be a dentist and apply for dental school?

Firstly: introduction
Finding a good dental school to apply for is probably one of the most formidable difficulties a dental student might face during his studying period.
As a high school student, you must have suffered a lot to keep having a GPA to apply for a respectful dental school.
Below, you'll find the latest dental schools Rates that might help you during your registration process. We will take an example for Children's Dentist Maui GPA required score.

Secondly: Dental school acceptance rates
As It's known, not all applicants for dental schools get accepted. It is different from a year to another. For example, the Highest acceptance rate was in 2002 (58% of applicants got in).

On the other hand: The lowest acceptance rate was in 2007 (33.6% of applicants got in).
It's good to mention that acceptance rates describe both the availability of seats and the number of people who applied for the seat, and it might change from one year to another.

For instance: in 2000, 4,234 seats were available, and the number of applicants was 7,700.
In 2007: 4,618 seats were available, but unfortunately, the number of applicants was. 13,742 applicants

But in 2019: 6,231 seats were available, and the number of applicants was 11,148.
For DAT test prep, resources are available here. Regarding the rates have also changed through the years, in 2000 average rates used to be 18.5. But that changed in 2019, which increased to 20.7.
It's good to mention that the average GPA has increased through the years.
For example, the average in the year 2000 was like this: GPA: 3.35; science GPA: 3.25
On the other hand, the best degree was in 2019: GPA: 3.57; science GPA: 3.48
Note that even the number of dental schools has increased through the years, it didn't affect the GPA rates to decrease.
Some dental schools get more applicants than others, and that's because of their system. That makes applying for some schools harder than others and requires higher GPAs and DTA rates.
Pediatric Dentistry In Maui Have a cumulative dental school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Cost of dental school applications
Even it's highly competitive to get into a dental school, it will cost you a lot to apply to each school. So it's better to choose correctly and avoid signing blindly and randomly because it will cost a lot.

Part 3: Dental school application mistakes
A lot of students fall into five common mistakes that you should avoid.
The first one is Submitting the AADSAS application late: if you want to apply for fall semester 2022, your AADSAS application should be ready on September 2021. Any application that comes after this date will have a low chance to be accepted because applications are usually reviewed on 'first come. So, our advice is to submit your application (including your DAT score) no later than July 15th for admissions starting the fall of the following year.

The second common mistake is Writing an engaging personal statement.
The admission office focuses on this part a lot. Give yourself a good time to make an excellent personal statement, and don't neglect it. Try to get feedback from experts to avoid any mistakes.

The third one is submitting a poor ADEA AADSAS application
These applications have a strict format that should not be neglected. Despite the personal statement, it needs two weeks minimally to fill the entire application. You better be ready for it.

Forth common mistake is preparing in the wrong way for dental school interviews.
The interview is the chance to show the interviewer that you deserve to be a dental student. Avoid underprepared and overpreparing; both of them have their disadvantages. Also, you should be ready for these two common questions "Why do you want to come to our school?" and "Why do you want to be a dentist?".

The last one is Applying to the wrong mix of dental schools:
You have to mix between private and state schools. School's average GPAs are higher than yours, close to your GPA, and lower. By doing this, you will guarantee at least a dental seat and not waste your time and money.
