What happens when your hygienist, or assistant, or front office staff does something you don’t like? Or what about when a patient comes in and complains about an issue? Those situations create stress points in your practice. Just about every dentist could tell you stress within your practice causes productivity to go down. So how to we fix that? Well, let’s start with these questions:

How much does your reaction to stress, as the doctor and boss, have on the stress levels of those around you?
What’s really going on with the complaining patient or team member who makes a mistake: are they just a “butthead” or is there a training opportunity within the practice?

In this episode of The Productive Dentist Podcast, Dr. Baird discusses the different stressors in a practice, how to identify what’s really going on, and how to lower stress in those situations. Dr. Baird also discusses some key insights into handling “training opportunities” within the practice for real change that will reduce or eliminate stress points. The big take home here is the more you train your team the less you have to stress about.
