OsteoGen Details Science Behind Its Bone Grafting Materials

Northborough, MA—OsteoGen bone grafting materials feature Bioactive Crystal Technology (BCT), a non-sintered, biomimetic calcium phosphate designed to support bone regeneration. Unlike sintered ceramic grafts, BCT retains bioactive properties and releases calcium ions that promote osteoblastic activity and mineralized matrix deposition.

Because the material is not sintered, it remodels differently than dense ceramic grafts. The graft is radiolucent at placement and becomes radiopaque as it converts to natural bone, typically within three to five months, allowing clinicians to monitor healing radiographically.

Research published in the Journal of Periodontology reported that OsteoGen Plug demonstrated 94.4% porosity and increased osteoblast activity compared with xenograft and allograft materials.

OsteoGen materials are available in plug, strip and block forms and combine BCT with Type I collagen for socket preservation and other grafting procedures.
