If You Want To Be Successful, You Need To Speak The Language

If You Want To Be Successful, You Need To Speak The Language

Did you ever see the movie “Arrival?”

In this rousing cinematic adventure, Amy Adams plays Louise, a linguist hired by the government. Alien ships have descended upon the planet. And, she has to learn how to speak the language of the strange beings traveling inside.

She spends a lot of time and effort learning how to communicate with the Heptopods, which is what they end up calling the aliens. To me, they looked like what you’d get if you let an elephant mate with a squid. And although it wasn’t easy, in the end, she’s able to learn their lingo.

A nice side benefit of her linguistic success is that she ends up saving the earth!

If I ever have a problem of this magnitude, I’m going to hire Ms. Adams to solve it for me.

The movie got me thinking about the relationship between knowing how to speak a language and being successful with something you need to doFor example, take the world of medicine. This is a field that’s endlessly bewildering to me. I once made the mistake of looking over my dentist’s shoulder at my medical chart. I immediately became awash in a disorienting sea of arcane jargon and cryptic abbreviations.

I won’t ever make that mistake again.

I’ve decided that it’s best to leave stuff like that to dental professionals like you. So, if you were my doctor, I would defer to your specialized knowledge. That’s because when you need someone to solve a problem for you, you need to harness the expertise of one who speaks the language of that world.

In the healthcare real estate field, that would be a tenant rep. This is the guy you want to hire if you want to understand confusing healthcare real estate jargon.

A tenant rep will teach you all about CAM fees. He’ll also help you understand what load factors are, what exactly is meant by “due diligence,” as well as all the other things you need to know. Look—you can always try to find healthcare office space on your own. But if you don’t speak the language, you’ll most likely be bamboozled by smooth-talking building owners who’ll take advantage of your inexperience.

And when this happens, chances are you’re going to be cheated out of your hard-earned money.

At HPRG, we have a highly trained battalion of agents who are fluent in the language of dental real estate. We’ve been doing this for 20 years. During all that time, we’ve dedicated ourselves to one mission and one mission only: to help dental professionals like you find the office space that’s right for them.

Call us today, and we’ll talk!
