You Lose Millions Marketing a Slow Website

You Lose Millions Marketing a Slow Website

Hello Everyone. Site speed is more important than ever. Google is labeling sites that load in over 2.5 seconds as slow.

Google has a new tool where you can check your site and also calculate how your practice revenue can be increased with improvements to site speed alone. It's bad ass.

Below is a screen capture video I made to demonstrate this to you.

Every practice is unique so lets' simply use the ADA average value here where they calculate that each new patient value is worth $653 in the first year. Then most stay with a practice for 7-10 years meaning each NP will generate at least $4500 in revenue (not including referrals) in their lifetime with a practice. You can ask 3 different dentists and 3 different marketers about this number and will get 6 different answers. I'm just using these numbers to demo how site speed has an impact on your practice. Often meaning millions of dollars over time.

Let's say your website is nice and working to bring new patients but slow to load for mobile users taking 20 seconds to fully load and allow interaction.  This is not unusual.

Your site converts well for those that do wait it out at say 4.4% of the traffic is either filling out a form (request appointment, contact, consult etc) or calling the practice. This conversion rate would be higher range "acceptable" with any standard practice today. Most today are sub 1% if even being measured at all.

Let's also assume your rock star staff is getting in touch with all leads optimally. Not likely but possible. Finally, for the sake of the demo here, let's assume 1 out of 4 leads end up as a new butt in the chair.

Next let's say your site is getting an average of 1500 ppl per month.

This tool is aimed at ecommerce and annual sales but we can tweak it to understand the impact site speed has on long term revenue.

I'll place 1/4 the $4500 ($1125) into the tool as each new patient captured from your marketing this year has long term value. See the impact of just speed in dollars. Speeding up your site today and for 2020 can have an impact on your revenue for a decade.

The tool auto calculates halving the time so this example of a site that takes 20 seconds will return a result for a 10 second improvement. Next I lower the page load time to 2 seconds which is Google's own "average" score and you will see the revenue start stacking.

At the end I also show what simply doubling your traffic and increasing the conversion rate by a single point can do.
