Darby Dental Supply’s new surgical division encompasses more than 5,000 top-tier branded products in surgical-specific categories such as instrumentation, sutures and bone grafting. The company’s surgical category manager, Brian Kacerow, says this new division eliminates the inconvenience of shopping around by providing a one-stop shop for GPs, implantologists and surgical specialists.

To accommodate the new division, Darby hired a team of surgical account managers who underwent a year of specialized surgical product training. This addition is the latest in Darby’s expansion into a full-service solutions provider; the company also recently expanded its capital equipment division, formed an exclusive partnership with Dental Fix Rx, and launched Darby TechForce, a technology services division providing HIPAA compliance, IT managed services, installations, digital integration and network security solutions.

Dental Planet Announces Grand Opening of East Coast Showroom
Equipment provider Dental Planet has opened a showroom in the New York metropolitan area. The company partnered with Dental Studies Institute (DSI) in Fairfield, New Jersey, to make over its dental suite and exam rooms. Bob Payton, president of Dental Planet, says that options include patient chairs that sell for less than $4,000 and complete operatories for less than $10,000.

DSI offers continuing education classes to dentists and their staffs, and with the new fully operational suite the company will work with supply vendors to introduce new procedures and technologies in a working operatory setting.

Great Expressions Dental Centers Names New CEO
Great Expressions Dental Centers, one of the largest dental support organizations in the U.S., has announced that Dan Hirschfeld has joined the company as chief executive officer. 

Hirschfeld has more than 30 years of experience in health care services, including as president and CEO of three different companies. Most recently, he served as president of Genesis Rehabilitation Services and International Operations and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Genesis Healthcare, a health care services company focused on rehabilitation, long-term care and assisted living. During his tenure, Genesis Rehabilitation scaled from 400 locations to 1,700.
