NEW YORK, January 22, 2013 -- MetLife, a provider of dental plan administration for more
than 21 million people, today announced the availability of a new, expanded Dental Preferred
Provider Organization (PPO) network, PDP Plus. The new network features more than 215,000
participating dentist access points and is MetLife’s largest PPO network — offering access to
more than 70% of dentist practice locations in the United States based on MetLife claims data.
By offering more participating dentists and greater flexibility to employees, PDP Plus can help
control overall plan costs and reduce participants’ out-of-pocket costs.
According to MetLife research, employees feel dental benefits are among their most valuable
benefits—appealing to individuals of all ages and needs. PDP Plus is designed to drive strong
effective discounts — the robust mix of network discounts and in-network utilization that is the
ultimate gauge of network performance. “Through more opportunities to access quality,
in-network care, along with the potential to maximize savings, PDP Plus drives improved
employee utilization and satisfaction, helping employers meet their overall benefits objectives,”
says Alan Hirschberg, vice president, MetLife Dental & Vision Products.
MetLife is making the PDP Plus network available immediately to most employers with fully
insured dental benefit plans, and is an optional selection for self-insured customers. Employers
