Dental sleep needs a big change.

The CDC tells us that 120 million Americans suffer with chronic disease.  Chronic diseases are made worse by low O2, hypoxemia, and this causes the body to become acidic.  With this we get a weakened immune system and any malady we have gets worse.
Medicine with the CPAP can help.  However the American Thoracic Society tells us that 46%-80% of CPAP users reject it.  So this leaves the dentists to get the patient better oxygen.  Are you confident you can do it and help these patients with your appliance.  Probably not.  The advancers occasionally get outstanding results but the great majority of treatment gets mediocre results.
Take a look at the Full Breath sleep appliance that does not advance the mandible but depresses the tungue gently with a posterior adjustable tail and small plastic plate.  The airway is opened during sleep and wait till you see the air volumes recorded on the Pharyngometer....outstanding.  We are in the driver seat to start helping the populous like no one else can.

With medicine not having a medical device to treat the masses, it is up to dentistry to do it.  Well we haven't done it with the advancers, and we won't.
I will fill you in on more on the next blog.
