We’ve been hearing from many doctors who have been challenged with post-covid hiring as never before. With fewer applicants and a tougher hiring environment we must up our game and be sure the basics are firmly in place. We also need to make sure we’re using every means possible to attract applicants, coupled with good follow up and a smooth on-boarding process.
With the negative hiring news, the wrong thing to do is to give in to it. As with other challenges we’ve all had to overcome, the right thing is to ensure we’re following a system that will open the doors. Here are a few key tips (be sure to download our Hiring Essentials Checklist for many more tips).
First is to make sure you leave no stone unturned and are advertising in every possible outlet (in our Checklist we give you many places to put your ad.) And remember, before you place it, you need to write a compelling advertisement for your office including your “employment value proposition” – meaning what is unique about your office and culture. If the ad comes across dull and flat, guess what? That’s how your applicants will perceive it. Our Checklist covers this too.

Once you have applicants, follow up and schedule interviews right away. But also pay attention to key points, especially the applicant’s communication skills right from the start. Are they professional and responsive? If they call in this is usually a sign that they are better than average at communicating.
You’ll need to have a smooth onboarding process including up to date Office Policies that reflect the reality of your office and detailed job descriptions of each position in your office. We can also help you with these.
You need to be armed with these tools and many more to win during the post-covid hiring environment. Be sure to download our Hiring Essentials Checklist and ask for a free consultation to review these points and any others in your practice that need attention.
