Like everything in life, if you don’t set your practice goals, they’re not likely to just walk on up and knock on your door.
Let me ask you, when was the last time you thought about your goals as a practice owner? Lots of us keep going on auto-mode and keep showing up day to day without a fresh vision of where we’re headed. This is a signal that it’s time to take a new look at where you’re going or to tune up your management skills.
This takes us back to the subject of your goals. Since we have a New Year coming up fast, this is a great time to set your goals. Start now. Ask yourself some questions about your practice:
1. What areas would you like to improve?
2. Are there new programs you’d like to implement? For example, improving your Tx Acceptance. Or to implement an “ambassador” program for patient referrals; or a bonus system for staff; or staff training programs; etc.
3. Knowledge is Power: What are your plans for your own study to increase your power in 2022?
Then just put this all together and set yourself goals for each of these. For example: Track and improve Tx acceptance by 20% (and see how that affects your bottom line for the year.) Or Implement regular training for all staff (and also see how a more efficient team pays off in so many ways.)
And remember to take Sir Edmund Hillary's advice and stay "sufficiently motivated":
“You don't have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals.”
We'll talk next about the steps to take after you set your goals: Strategic Planning to make sure those goals become an actuality.
We wish you all the best for wonderful holidays and a prosperous New Year!
