Crooked, misaligned teeth lead many people to feel self-conscious about their appearance. With Invisalign braces, patients are able to improve their smiles with a more aesthetic alternative to traditional metal braces.

What is Invisalign?
Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners that gradually move the teeth over the course of the treatment. Computer technology is used to map out tooth movement toward the final result The aligners are typically worn for 22 hours a day and changed at regular intervals.

Types of Invisalign

Express - Used for a mild movement of the teeth, typically accomplished in 2-4 months

Full - Used when a greater degree of movement is needed. Most people will require this method and it can take 5+ months. The average treatment time is approximately one year but for more complex cases, treatment can continue for a longer period of time.

Teen - Used on adolescents whose teeth are still growing, which can help guide them into the correct position.

Advantages of Invisalign

Comfort - The smooth, easy fitting aligners are gentle on the gums and inside the cheek. Traditional metal braces have wires that can break or brackets that can pop off. This can injure the inside of the mouth or cheek.

Hygiene - Since the aligners can be removed, patients have the ability to brush and floss their teeth without obstructions. This allows for a complete cleaning. Keep in mind, the aligners should only be removed for a short duration to allow for proper cleaning.

Effectiveness - Invisalign has been found to provide the same results as traditional metal braces. Patients should wear their aligners as instructed and keep up with their regular check-ups and the result will be perfectly straight teeth.

Easy Cleaning - Similar to a retainer, Invisalign aligners are removed before you eat and when you brush and floss your teeth. They can be rinsed and cleaned with water to remove any plaque and bacteria. The removable aligners make cleaning and maintenance very easy.

Look - This is often the main reason patients choose Invisalign over braces. The aligners are basically undetectable as they are made of a clear plastic material.

Cost - Most dental insurance plans will cover Invisalign the same as they would traditional braces. The cost can be similar to metal braces and the duration of treatment will affect the cost.
