If an employer provides any payment towards health insurance (and you want it to be before taxes), it has to be properly set up, and not just added as a bonus or additional compensation. If you have a 401k and an insurance company is the recordkeeper, it might be worth a few moments to check your contract to see if surrender fees apply to your plan. These are the dirtiest least discussed issues with hundreds of 1000's of 401k plans: If your plan does have these fees, then the question becomes.....whendo you fire your current providers. That is the real only question.
