Hello friends, so I'm 2 months out of school and I'm faced with this complex case. My first instinct was to refer to prosthodontics or AEGD but no specialists in my area that would accept her insurance and her finances are limited. I wanted to post this here to see if there is anything I can do

If this treatment plan is limited to what insurance will pay for I have done similar cases with either valplast partials or resin base with only metal clasps depending on the situation.

within about 3 years. I think it's time to talk to the patient about bone grafts and implants. That route will take time and money, but it is the best replacement for what he has now. I would also tell him to get started ASAP if he has insurance, as he can utilize some insurance now, and more come

in 2014. We had a really good removable pros education/experience there, in my opinion. They're a great tool to have as an option for patients. I only curse them on the occasional removable patient who is never happy with their lower prosthesis. PPOs killed removables Insurance really killed off

to me. Maybe do a knife edge margin instead of a butt joint? whether its truly open or not if the pt goes to the dentist down the street they will most likely see that, show the patient on a big monitor, and tell the pt they need a new crown or they will die or something, then insurance gets

office. Then each segment is what my crown fee per tooth is. So if you replace 2/3/4/5 with definitives- then whatever my crown fee is multiplied by # of teeth. BTW- first phase has almost 0$ insurance coverage. If you take it step by step can take you 3 years. Be a nice finished product. OR tell him $25K and do it all.......

for implant vs bridge is not a huge jump but makes a difference when insurance will cover a bridge but not an implant, which now will be 100% OOP. The bridge also allowed me to fix the other esthetic issues (which I would have fixed with a veneer or bonding if patient desired an implant) Wow

think of: 1) The practice started out with a round number, but they increase their fees by a certain percentage each year. So sometimes the fee amount comes out to an odd number. 2) The practice uses the same fee for the implant as their allowed amount insurance fee. The seller of my practice did

. this is great advice Since this got some comments I will give an update: Ended basically temporizing all the decay with composite, using the teflon trick to pick up the rest seats nicely from the existing partial. I kept the lower canine by doing endo and a build up and ext lower premolar with the funky crown. Patient ran out of insurance coverage and haven't seen him yet this year lol. Hopefully he comes back and we get the ball rolling.

compared to fixed dentistry. ROI was non-existant. Don't get me started on this. Not doing dentures is just as foolish as not taking insurance and doing mandibular blocks. :) But I do take tons of PPO's and do blocks. And the available and potential pt. pool for CU/CL rpd's in my area is miniscule.Oh
