Anyone have a good narrative I can take a peek at to help write a narrative for fibroma removal on the lateral border of the tongue. Insurance is requesting additional info even though pictures and path report were supplied. Thanks in advance. I just don't want to leave anything out that may allow delay or denial of this claim. problems. People tend to minimize symptoms and go into denial. I see it as my job to make sure they get treatment. There are very few things in our profession that are a matter of life or death. This is one of them.

history that you identified a problem, notified the patient, made a reasonable suggestion for referral and documented the denial. That is all you can do unless you truly believe you are liable for more in which case you can dismiss the patient. The only person that will care about that is a judge

guessA brush biopsy will not give an actionable diagnosis like lichen planus.The brush biopsy was renamed brush test many years ago because it only collected epithelial cells. This patient presented with nasty, sore lesions on the side of his tongue. I thought they should be biopsied. He ended up at an ENT office because of his insurance and the biopsy came back Lichen Planus which was a bit of a surprise to me, as I have always seen this on the cheeks. ENT

Someone else suggested mumps, but Ithink they are too lateral to be submandibular glands, but instead lymph nodes, and I don't believe mumps would show as a calcified on a radiograph? , they will get the kit to you for free. Don't remember the cost...........I think it is usually covered by med insurance. PatDo not biopsy that. Send it to pedo if you're not sure what you're doing. We see these all day long and never put the patient through an unnecessary...What would a pedo do? Biopsy. lolI also would not biopsy this one. . The bottom line is that it's either cancer or not, and since you are not able to diagnose or treat it, I do not suggest watching it. I would almost certainly get patient off to OS or ENT. I say ENT because sometimes medical insurance will give a much greater $$ benefit to the patient.Picture would help

bleeding much. I'm in-network with many medical insurance plans and they pay me about $300 total for the consult and procedure. 200 for Medicare. Not a profit center but it takes me 5 minutes to do the consult and another 5 minutes for the procedure. For your question about pain, I have never had anyone have a problem with pain and many just take Motrin. But I always offer some hydrocodone in case they need it.

? Because these resolve on their own, you could inform the patient, and recommend a follow-up xray at the year mark. Remind them that insurance will not cover it, butif the psuedocyst has resolved,it will save them from the expenses of checking further with the OS. We see these time to time as well
