In conversations with dentists I work with, the general consensus is 5 post op appointments rather than months. They also insist their patients adhere to a yearly recall in order to continue no-cost adjustments if they needed less than 5 after initial delivery.

This way you have one month of cash and likely followed by one month worth of A/R to come in to float the practice until the insurance kicks in. to make a new denture for someone who has worn the same one for decades. My lab said they can scan the denture, return it the next day, and return the duplicate two or 3 days later. I've done it once. Pt had new insurance and wanted to capitalize on a new upper. I had them duplicate the wear and she was very satisfied and I never saw her for an adjustment. So everyone was happy.
