Exploring the Impact of Healthy Diet on Periodontal Health

Posted: January 10, 2025
A systematic review explored whether adopting a healthy diet improves periodontal parameters in patients susceptible to periodontal disease. The review found that a diet low in refined carbohydrates, low in saturated fats, high in fiber, and high in nutrition can positively impact periodontal parameters, particularly in older populations. However, the effects may be influenced by confounding factors such as smoking. While the evidence was of moderate to low quality, the findings suggest that dietary habits play a role in periodontal health and further research is needed to validate these associations.
