This course examines the basic components of the digital x-ray history and describes the process of image acquisition. This course also provides the practitioner with an understanding of digital x-ray technology so they can make a fully informed decision when purchasing a digital radiography system.

Disinfection and Sterilization: A Primer

Synopsis:
Practitioners will be guided through a discussion of types of germicidal products. Deciding the appropriate type of germicidal product depends on the nature and amount of the contamination and whether it is sporicidal or tuberculocidal. Other areas such as the laboratory, the dental unit water lines, evacuation systems and amalgam separators are also included.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to achieve the following:
- Discuss the basic principles and methods of sterilization and disinfection
- Detail the types of chemical sterilants/ disinfectants and appropriate selection for patient care items and laboratory items, dental unit water lines, amalgam separators, and evacuation systems.
