Washington, D.C.—The National Dental Association (NDA), the nation’s largest organization of minority dental professionals, has announced its support for the Interstate Dental & Dental Hygiene Licensure Compact (IDDHLC). The initiative, developed by the American Association of Dental Boards, streamlines licensing across state lines while maintaining high standards of patient care.

At its July meeting in Kansas City, the NDA House of Delegates voted to endorse the compact, emphasizing the importance of maintaining hands-on clinical examinations and state board authority.

“This model upholds the principles of patient protection, professional competency, and state authority while advancing responsible licensure portability,” said NDA President Dr. Cheryle Baptiste Hill.

Louisiana recently became the first state to join the compact, with other states progressing through legislative processes. The NDA joins a growing coalition of dental organizations supporting the initiative.
