Amherst, NY — December 5, 2014 — Ivoclar Vivadent announced that more than 100 million restorations have successfully been placed with the universal anterior and posterior composite, Tetric EvoCeram, since it was first introduced in 2004.

To honor this milestone anniversary and continuous development of the Tetric Evo product line, Ivoclar Vivadent has special offers available to users  through March 2015 during “Celebrating 10 Years of Tetric Evolution.” A Scientific Report and Casebook have also been published showcasing a number of Tetric EvoCeram success stories.

“The name Tetric stands for continuous evolution,” says Dr. Laurent Schenk, Clinical Marketing Director at Ivoclar Vivadent. “For that reason, we consistently further develop these products. Their resounding success is a continuous source of motivation for us. Tetric EvoCeram will continue to impress users and proceed on its path of success.”

Introduced as the successor product to Tetric Ceram, a medium-viscosity composite, Tetric EvoCeram is known for its demonstrated low failure rate in multiple 10-year studies. Additionally, The Dental Advisor has selected Tetric EvoCeram as the “Top Long Term Performer Composite” for the past two consecutive years (2013 and 2014).

The long-term clinical performance and positive attributes of Tetric EvoCeram are also evidenced in The Dental Advisor’s 8-year clinical evaluation of the composite. During this period, 873 restorations were placed and monitored, and 637 of these restorations, which included both anterior and posterior teeth, were recalled over a six-month period. Thirty-seven percent of those restorations had been placed 8 years or more before the recall, while 35% had been placed between 5 and 7 years earlier, and 28% had been placed 5 years ago or less.

The findings from these recall visits were impressive. Ninety-three percent of those recalled restorations received an excellent esthetics rating, while 7% received good to very good. Regarding resistance to fracture and chipping, 95% of the restorations received an excellent rating. Eighty-six percent of the restorations had no visible microleakge and received an excellent rating, and 98% of the restorations showed no evidence of wear.

Through this review, The Dental Advisor concluded that Tetric EvoCeram features excellent handling characteristics. It is non-slumping, not sticky, and contours well, and is easy to finish and polish.
Overall, The Dental Advisor gave Tetric EvoCeram a 97% clinical performance rating.

Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill, a moldable 4mm posterior composite introduced in 2011, was also awarded the “gold medal” for two consecutive years for being the “Top Bulk Fill Composite.” Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill can be applied in single increments of up to 4 mm due to its highly reactive, patented Ivocerin photoinitiator. The Tetric Evo product line also includes a flowable, Tetric EvoFlow, introduced in 2007.
