New impression material improves speed, precision, quality and reliability

ST. PAUL, Minn. – (October 1, 2004) – In response to the market’s demand for a polyether impression material especially suited for one- and two-unit cases, 3M ESPE introduces Impregum™ Penta™ Soft Quick Step Impression Material.

Impregum Penta Soft Quick Step impression material can be utilized for inlay, onlay, veneer, crown, fixation and implant impressions. Suitable for use with all standard tray types, both metal and plastic varieties, the material offers a maximum working time of one minute and an intra-oral setting time of three minutes. Compared to conventional polyether materials, Impregum™ Penta™ Soft Quick Step MB for the monophase technique and Impregum™ Penta™ Soft HB and LB for the heavy body/light body technique reduce the overall working time by at least one-third.

Impregum Penta Soft Quick Step impression material offers excellent precision with superb reproduction of detail – even in moist conditions. In fact, it demonstrates better initial hydrophilicity than VPS and displaces moisture right from the start of the mix – when it counts – for void-free impressions. Impregum Penta Soft Quick Step material also offers excellent flow properties allowing it to flow into critical areas with very low pressure exerted. Additionally the snap-set behavior of the polyether material ensures the material will not start setting before the working time ends.

Offering a fresh mint flavor, the material is much easier to remove, yet maintains proper rigidity for a wide range of applications, including dual-arch tray techniques. In addition, automatic mixing in the 3M™ ESPE™ Pentamix™ Mixing Unit provides for a reliable dosing Impregum™ Penta™ Soft Quick Step Impression Material/Page Two impression material that is homogenous and void free.

“Polyether impression materials set the standard for precise impressions because of their intrinsic hydrophilicity, viscosity and snap-setting behavior,” says Lisa Hake, marketing manager, 3M ESPE. “And with the introduction of Impregum™ Penta™ Soft Quick Step Impression Material, dentists can make faster impressions with maximum precision without sacrificing quality and reliability.”
