ORAL HEALTH AMERICA receives $20,000 grant from Henry Schein Cares® Foundation.

February 20, 2012, Chicago, IL—Henry Schein Cares® Foundation announced on February 1, 2012 that its Board of Directors had awarded a $20,000 challenge grant to Oral Health America (OHA). The Foundation at Henry Schein Inc. is committed to “helping health happen” through its global social responsibility program.

Acknowledging the generous gift in a letter to the Foundation’s Executive Director Alan Cohen, Oral Health America’s President and Chief Executive Officer Beth Truett stated, “Our friends at Henry Schein know as well as anyone that more than 10,000 “Baby Boomers” will reach retirement age every day for the next nineteen years, and that while today’s older adults are living longer and enjoy better oral health than previous generations, they are particularly susceptible to oral disease and decay as they age and face chronic and systemic health issues.” For this reason, OHA intends to steer the proceeds of this grant towards its signature programs such as the Wisdom Tooth Project, an effort OHA is pioneering as an effort to connect, educate and advocate for the oral health of all older Americans, especially those most vulnerable.”

Oral Health America’s mission is to change lives by connecting communities with resources to increase access to oral health care, education and advocacy for all Americans, especially those most vulnerable.
