PHILLIP A. KEMP, D.D.S. NAMED ACCREDITED MEMBER
OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF COSMETIC DENTISTRY

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Feb. 13, 2012 – Phillip A. Kemp, D.D.S. has been named to an elite group – Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). There are fewer than 340 AACD accredited members worldwide, only 287 in the United States and only eight in the entire state of Tennessee.

Dr. Kemp will receive recognition and award at the 28th Annual Scientific Session held May 2-5, 2012, in Washington, D.C.

“We are honored to welcome Dr. Kemp to the ranks of AACD Accredited members,” said Dr. Nils Olson, chairperson for AACD Accreditation. “Accredited dentists and laboratory technicians are the most passionate and committed practitioners. Those who have achieved Accreditation have improved their skills, acquired new techniques, and can provide their patients with better care and services. They understand that a smile is more than just an anatomical part, it’s an expression of who their patients are.”

Accreditation in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry involves a rigorous clinical testing process. Candidates begin with a written examination and then progress to a series of clinical cases that cover a number of different situations and feature differing levels of complexity. Finally, accreditation is achieved after passing an oral examination. This entire process typically takes years to complete, but is worth the additional effort since it encourages further education, interaction with colleagues, and the opportunity for professional growth.

Nancy Daniels says, “I looked and interviewed cosmetic dentists for 11 years before having Dr. Kemp do my full-mouth restoration. I knew from the first few minutes that I could trust him and his staff to do an amazing job with the restoration."

Dr. Kemp has been an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry for more than 10 years. During this time, he has served on the Board of Trustees and as a board member. He served as chairman for the AACD’s Domestic Violence Survivor Committee overseeing the Give Back A Smile Program. In 2008 and 2009 he received the Partner in Peace Award for his work with domestic violence survivors.

Because of his leadership in the AACD, Dr. Kemp was asked to serve on the Professional Education Committee which organizes all educational meetings for the academy and was instrumental in helping develop the AACD’s online learning program. He was chosen to co-chair the 25th Annual Scientific Session in Hawaii and has been a speaker at several national, international and local AACD meetings.

Dr. Kemp is also considered an expert in dental photography. He has been asked to speak at numerous dental meetings on the subject of photography including the Annual Sessions of the AACD, the Tennessee Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the University of Tennessee Dental School.

Dr. Kemp’s passion for dentistry flows from a heart that loves to help others look and feel their best, so they can go and impact the world. He is the founder of Hope Smiles, a nonprofit that provides restorative and cosmetic dental work to individuals who have overcome life-controlling issues and have shown a commitment to turning their lives around. Hope Smiles’ first global outreach was in July 2011. The dental team provided free dental services to more than 150 nannies at Maria’s Big House of Hope hospital and orphanage in Luoyang, China. Locally, Hope Smiles has provided free dental services to Mercy Ministries, Lighthouse Mission, Mending Hearts, and others.
