iBOND® Total Etch by Heraeus Outperforms Market Leader in Independent Bond-Strength Study by REALITY RESEARCH LAB

SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, June 27, 2011— Heraeus Kulzer, LLC, the leader in advancing dental esthetics and overall dental wellbeing, announced today the results of an independent and non-commissioned study by REALITY RESEARCH LAB that measured the efficacy and bond strength of iBOND® Total Etch versus OptiBond® Solo Plus. The study provides substantial and convincing clinical evidence to support the claim that iBOND Total Etch outperforms the current market leader in sheer bond strength to both dentin and enamel.

iBOND® Total Etch is the Etch & Rinse 2-stepbonding adhesive from Heraeus. Due to its innovative nano-?ller technology, iBOND Total Etch attains high bond strength to both enamel and dentin while ensuring optimal marginal sealing. It is also ideal for desensitizing hypersensitive areas.

About the REALITY study*
Ten specimens of human enamel and 10 of human dentin were utilized to test the sheer bond strength of iBOND Total Etch and OptiBond Solo Plus. iBOND Total Etch was used on wet specimens (after etching) and OptiBond Solo Plus was applied on moist specimens (after etching). Venus Diamond A2 was the standard restorative material, Optilux 501 (>800mW/cm2) was the curing light, and bond strengths were determined immediately after light curing. iBOND Total Etch had higher bond strengths to both dentin and enamel than OptiBond Solo Plus in the most difficult bonding protocol, namely wet.

“The efficacy and reliability of iBOND Total Etch has been well proven in this important study and affirms the work of our global research team,” says Christopher Holden, President of Heraeus Kulzer. “They are collaborating with dental professionals and working tirelessly around the clock to generate a steady stream of breakthroughs that we believe will lead to better patient outcomes and unlock new levels of productivity in dental offices,” he added.
