New Heat-Softening Acrylic

Great Lakes Introduces New Heat-Softening Acrylic
Posted: May 25, 2004

Great Lakes recently introduced, Variflex, a new heat-softening acrylic developed for the fabrication of heavy-duty appliances including splints, nightguards, and Klearway appliances.

Variflex is quick and easy to process, can be press-packed or poured, doesn’t require refrigeration, and bonds to cold cure. It is resilient and self-adjusting for optimal comfort.

Variflex softens under warm tap water, providing patients with a great fitting, comfortable appliance. The material offers superior clarity and contains no methylmethacrylates or plasticizers. And, the new Variflex from Great Lakes is priced less than Astron or Talon.
