Integrated Full HD Video Camera for OPMI pico/OPMI pico MORA

First high-resolution Full HD Camera for razor-sharp microscope images in dentistry

JENA – 21 March 2011
Carl Zeiss is setting a new standard for high-quality documentation in dentistry: the company is now offering a new integrated Full HD camera for the OPMI® pico and OPMI® pico MORA dental microscopes. This camera shows high-resolution live images with a quality of 1920x1080p and visualizes even the finest object structures in natural colors. The interaction of the brilliant optics of the dental microscope and the high-resolution camera delivers high-contrast, razor-sharp videos and still shots – ideal for co-observation, patient communication and documentation. The particularly high resolution of the camera makes it possible to digitally zoom details in the live video image or to later magnify sections of the captured images and videos.

For recording of the videos or still shots, the camera offers analog outputs and an HDMI output, via which the image data is routed directly to the PC for further processing or archiving.

The Full HD camera and its control unit are completely integrated into the OPMI pico or OPMI pico MORA microscope systems which have been specially developed for dentistry. This guarantees a slim design for the dental microscope without any obstructing attachments and provides smooth surfaces for easy cleaning. The camera is immediately ready for action after the microscope has been switched on. HD and SD outputs on the camera control unit guarantee flexible image transfer to either HD or SD monitors and recording systems.

Existing OPMI pico or OPMI pico MORA dental microscopes can be subsequently equipped with the integrated Full HD camera. With this new product, Carl Zeiss is offering a future-proof and flexible concept for documentation in Full HD quality in dental microscopy.
