Course Description
This continuum is aimed at making the participant comfortable and confident in most aspects of implant prosthodontics.

Objectives
- Establish a protocol & treatment planning sequence to consistently achieve predictable implant placement, prosthodontic restoration & life-like esthetic results.
- Be comfortable with the full gamut of implant dentistry from single tooth to partially edentulous situations to completely edentulous patients.
- Successfully communicate with the implant surgeon to achieve optimal implant placement.
- Have research documented, evidence-based systematic practical approach to all phases of implant dentistry.
- Be comfortable with appropriate component selection, abutment & prosthesis design, materials selection & laboratory communication.
- Techniques & technology for case photo documentation, before & after photos, patient presentation of treatment plans and internal marketing.
John A. Sorensen, D.M.D., Ph.D., FACP
Dr. Sorensen has been actively involved with implants in private practice, research and education for 26 years. He has conducted implant clinical trials and in vitro testing, co-invented an abutment system, and consulted with four implant companies.Dr. Sorensen was the Director of the Advanced Prosthodontics Program at UCLA for nine years. In 1994, he was appointed to an endowed chair, The Oregon Dental Association Centennial Professor of Restorative Dentistry, at Oregon Health Sciences University where he created and directed the Dental Clinical Research Center. He earned his PhD in Dental Materials in 1997. In 2003, Sorensen founded the Pacific Dental Institute (PDI), which performs clinical studies, materials testing and provides hands-on and patient treatment CE programs. In 2009 Dr. Sorensen converted his prosthodontic practice to a ClearChoice implant specialty center in Portland, Oregon with an oral surgeon. Dr. Sorensen has published nearly 80 research articles and chapters, and over 120 research abstracts.
