DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties Introduces GT® Series X™ Rotary Files

Tulsa, Okla. – DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties, the company long associated with endodontic innovation, announces the introduction of its GT Series X rotary files with M-Wire™ NiTi—the newest addition to the established line of patented products and techniques designed to make endodontic therapy more efficient and effective.
Tulsa Dental Specialties builds on the original ProSystem GT endodontic instruments designed by Dr. L. Stephen Buchanan to offer a rotary file that delivers greater flexibility and increased resistance to cyclic fatigue. In addition, the new GT Series X files offer faster cutting due to wider, more open blade angles and variable width radial lands that enable the file to stay true to the canal path.
“Rarely has a product been introduced that increases performance in nearly every major area of measurement,” said senior category manager Greg Phillips. “In rotary file design, one generally gives up an attribute to gain in another—speed of cut at a greater risk of transportation, and so on. Tulsa Dental Specialties is proud to introduce a product that pushes those boundaries to new levels.”

“We surveyed hundreds of clinicians to determine the characteristics they desire most in a new rotary file design. The GT Series X file with M-Wire NiTi addresses the performance and safety needs that were identified as most relevant to these clinicians. This new and patented design combined with the latest in material science allows for an instrument that sets new standards in rotary file technology,” said Phillips.
GT Series X file features include:
·        New file geometries that include patented variable lands and U®- shaped flutes with unique helical angles that result in files that cut faster, are more flexible and stay centered in the canal.
·        M-Wire nickel titanium technology, exclusively from DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties that significantly increases resistance to cyclic fatigue and increases flexibility over ProFile® and GT instruments.
·        Fewer instruments in the shaping sequence than the current GT file design.
M-Wire NiTi is a nickel titanium file that has undergone additional processing that enhances wire characteristics, such as increased flexibility and strength, which leads to greater resistance to cyclic fatigue.
“In a drive to continuously improve the practice of endodontics, over two years of development work has been put into a next generation of rotary instrument material,” said Phillips. “The result is a patent pending new technology that maximizes the unique characteristics of nitinol for endodontic applications.”
Following the system-based approach, GT Series X files seamlessly integrate with the entire GT Series X endo system that takes clinicians from instrumentation through obturation.
