Dr. Steven Kirsch a general dentist practicing in Southern California has announced the completion of a two year long project to design the first noise cancellation headset to be used by dental patients who suffer from the sounds produced by the Dental Drill. "This has probably always been the number one complaint in our office," says Dr. Kirsch. "I am completely empathetic to our patient's complaints. It's not as though we enjoy listening to that high-pitched whine all day. As well, you have to remember that as dentists, we are at times also dental patients. The sound of the dental drill is awful and I simply decided to do something about it," adds Kirsch. Dr. Kirsch's new device is called the HushDent 1000. "This first product is an analog based solution but it works very, very well. We tested this on our own patients during a period of approximately seven months and the results were even better than we had expected. The patients plug the headset into one of our portable music players like a "Discman" or "Walkman" and immediately, they find themselves disconnected from the sounds of dentistry. You still get a bit of the vibration from the drill, but most if not all (90% - 98%) of the irritating sounds are eliminated. You don't even have to listen to the patients in other rooms or the conversation between dentist and assistant. And when the dentist needs to communicate with you, he or she need only adjust the volume control on the side of the headset. Lightweight and comfortable to both the patient and the dentist's wallet, the retail cost should be about $149.95. The HushDent really is something we have all been waiting for as patients and professionals", claims Kirsch.
