ACCESS-TO-CARE DENTAL PROPOSALS

ADA FOUNDATION REQUESTING ACCESS-TO-CARE DENTAL PROPOSALS
Posted: December 18, 2006

Proposals due by January 30, 2007 for competitive grants up to $25,000

The ADA Foundation (ADAF) is requesting proposals that address improving access to dental care and increasing oral health awareness under its 2007 Grant Program. Awards will total $100,000 and proposals are due by January 30, 2007, according to the ADAF.
The foundation also says that applicants can submit proposals under two categories: dental access and community water fluoridation.

DENTAL ACCESS PROPOSALS

Under the grant program¹s, ³State Capacity Building and Oral Health Planning Grants 2007,² the ADAF seeks statewide proposals that address oral health planning and expansion of access to dental care. Under this category, the foundation will consider proposals up to $25,000 from not-for-profit or publicly funded programs in the United States and its territories.

According to the ADAF, the objective of this proposal is to encourage collaborative statewide efforts to address oral health awareness and access-to-care needs of underserved populations. Collaboration could include coalition development, convening state oral health summits, developing state oral health plans, supporting volunteer and outreach efforts that involve dentists, or developing public policies to expand oral health access and awareness.

COMMUNITY WATER FLUORIDATION PROPOSALS

Under the grant¹s program, ³Community Water Fluoridation Infrastructure Grants 2007,² the ADAF seeks proposals that initiate and maintain community water fluoridation for purchase of replacement fluoridation equipment. The ADAF will consider proposals up to $10,000 from not-for-profit or publicly funded programs in the United States and its territories.

Consideration of requests will be based upon the two following criteria:
€Purchase of replacement water fluoridation equipment for acid-feed systems only (i.e., metering pumps and feeders) within water systems that serve between 25,000 and 300,000 people.
€Applicants are required to demonstrate the ability to secure matching funds equal to 50% of the amount requested.
