Dr. Genaro Romo Gets Presidents Leadership Award from UIC College of Dentistry

            Dr. Genaro Romo, a 1997 alumnus of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, was presented the College’s President’s Leadership Award at the College’s 2006 Reunion Feb. 24.
            Dr. Romo recently completed his term as President of the UIC College of Dentistry Alumni Board. He also has served as the Board’s Committee Chair for the UIC/CDS Mentorship Program since 2004.
            One of four children of migrant workers from Mexico, Dr. Romo is a former clinical associate in the College’s Department of Pediatric Dentistry. He opened his first private practice in 1999 in the Rogers Park area of Chicago, and his second in 2005 in the Brighton Park community of Chicago. He currently works in both practices.
            An active member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and Chicago Dental Society (CDS), Dr. Romo currently is Treasurer of the CDS Northside Branch, and funded an annual scholarship for the Hispanic Dental Association.
            He and his wife, Sandy, have a daughter, Alyssa. Dr. Romo and his family reside in Oak Lawn, IL.
