DALLAS, Texas—ArtCraft Dental announced continued adoption of Xpanders, an atraumatic extraction instrument developed by Dr. David Fyffe.

According to the company, Xpanders are designed to improve efficiency and predictability during extractions while helping preserve bone and minimize trauma. The instrument features a double-pronged tip intended to create two-point contact between the crest of bone and the neck of the tooth, allowing bucco-lingual and mesio-distal expansion before forceps use.

Dr. Fyffe said the instrument was developed to address limitations associated with traditional elevators and to improve tooth movement before extraction.

“Extractions become significantly faster and easier when you can achieve more movement before forceps are introduced,” Fyffe said. “Xpanders were designed to create controlled, 360° socket expansion while preserving bone.”
