INGLEWOOD, Calif.—A Microchem Laboratory study recently compared the efficacy of EverSmile PreOp Pretreatment Foaming Rinse 3.8% with hydrogen peroxide 1.5%, using the standard test method to assess the activity of microbicides against viruses in suspension, using human coronavirus strain 229E in host cell MRC-5.

Testing was done with contact time 15 seconds, 30 seconds, and 60 seconds. At 15 seconds, EverSmile PreOp Pretreatment Rinse performed an average reduction in human coronavirus of 99.968%. At 15 seconds, 1.5% hydrogen peroxide performed an average reduction of only 74.30%. The reduction rate for the rinse remained 99.968% at 30 and 60 seconds of contact time. 1.55 Hydrogen peroxide achieved an average reduction of 87.98% at 30 seconds and 91.30% at 60 seconds.

EverSmile PreOp Pretreatment Rinse is thus at its full effectiveness with 15 seconds of treatment time, and is more effective than 1.5% hydrogen peroxide at reducing human coronavirus loads at 15, 30, and 60 seconds of contact time.
