Posted: December 9, 2004
Snoqualmie, Wash.,—Philips Electronics' (NYSE: PHG) Oral Healthcare business unit, the makers of the Sonicare® power toothbrush, today announced the appointment of Diana P. Friedman, MA, MBA to the position of Director of Education and Professional Relations for North America. In this position, Friedman will leverage her sizeable practice management and strategic marketing expertise to broaden and enhance Philips Oral Healthcare's education and professional relations efforts.

"Our heritage of strong collaboration with the dental professional community will certainly be elevated dramatically through Diana's leadership," said Dr. Eric Grosgogeat, vice president of marketing, education and professional relations for Philips Oral Healthcare. "Diana brings strategic discipline and rigor to our approach to education and professional relations. That talent, in combination with her keen awareness and understanding of the ever-changing dental industry, empowers Diana to help boost Philip Oral Healthcare's value within the dental community, especially as we launch the IntelliClean System from Sonicare and Crest."

Most recently as vice president of corporate development at Levin Group, Inc., the leading dental consulting firm in North America, Friedman had the opportunity to deliver customized practice management and corporate strategic marketing consulting services to all types of dental companies including Philips Oral Healthcare.

"My first-hand experience with and knowledge of Philips as a well-established innovator in the dental industry made my decision to join an easy one," said Friedman. "Philips consistently provides dental professionals and patients alike with the tools and information they need to ensure optimal oral health and hygiene. I believe I can weave Philips Oral Healthcare even more tightly into the fabric of dentistry by further enhancing the company's relationships with dental professionals, corporations, academia and research institutes."

Prior to her position at Levin Group, Friedman held multiple consultative positions that focused on market education and business development, successfully contributing to the growth of small and Fortune 500 companies alike. As senior international advisor for the International Executive Service Corp and CDC (under the auspices of the United States Agency of International Development), Friedman performed market and industry needs assessment, and created strategic business plans for firms in emerging international markets. Friedman also was a business consultant for the Schuster Center for Professional Development, a large dental management consulting firm, and ran her own consulting practice for four years.

Listed in Who's Who in American Business and Who's Who in Women Executives, Friedman holds an MBA in management and marketing as well as a MA degree in Sociology, both from Arizona State University. She is also a certified arbitrator with the NASD Board of Arbitrators and a certified instructor with The Covey Leadership Center.
