Know Your Vision!
Vision…others may not understand it, because it was not given to them…Just started a New Practice series on the podcast, and the very first episode was on Vision.
True story…years ago when I was in the process of setting up my dental practice, I used to go to the Small Business Association and meet with one of their ‘small business counselors’. I research absolutely everything and was doing my due diligence to gather even more information to set up my business the right way.  In fact, I researched and visualized every detail for two years before opening the doors to my practice.
But even with this immaculate preparation, every time I went in to meet with my counselor, his name I still remember, but won’t mention.  I was always met with opposition or told how my ideas/concepts wouldn’t work. Hmmm.  Good thing for me that I never listened to people who told me what I couldn’t do, and furthermore who couldn’t understand my vision.   I remember going home one day after one of our sessions of which would always leave me feeling a sense of 'heaviness and I can’t' and writing in my journal that “he must not know who I am and that everything I decide to do, I do.” I never went back to the SBA after that day.  And I went on to set up my practice and operate in the Black from the day that I opened the doors.  So, that counselor was right when he told me “just because it’s a new idea, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.”  My beautiful spa-like dental practice that catered to busy professionals on the eighth floor of a downtown professional high-rise building with panoramic views of the city, aromatherapy, massage room and soothing earth tone colors was not a good idea, it was a GREAT one!

It is often impossible for someone to understand a vision that was not given to them, and even more plausible that the person doesn't see it possible for themselves.  This does and should not have any bearing on your capabilities.

Moral of the story, always follow YOUR 'True North.'  It is the path to your practice success and your personal well-being.
