In this episode of The Efficient Practice Podcast, I have the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Mark Causey, a Board-Certified Orthodontist from Gainseville, GA who recently came up with a 3D Printable Mask Framework as a viable solution for the shortage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Causey owns two practices throughout North Georgia and is married to his wife of 13 years. They have three children. He graduated from the Medical College School of Dentistry in 2010 and received his orthodontic certificate from Medical College of Georgia Department of Orthodontics in 2012. Dr. Causey has done extensive research and has many publications. He has held several leadership positions and is also a faculty member at Augusta University School of Dental Medicine. Episode Highlights: - How Dr. Causey’s 3D printable Mask framework is a viable solution for the shortage of PPE (Personal Protective    Equipment) during the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic - How he came up with the concept of his 3D printer mask concept - How the masks use HEPA filtration for efficacy -How border molding (a technique dentists usually used for dentures) helps provide a custom seal - How to properly disinfect masks for reuse - How masks recently passed fit test at the hospital in Savanah, Georgia -How CDC posts that in the event of shortages of PPE, healthcare providers may make their own and how Dr. Causey’s      masks provides more protection in these circumstances -What a stop gap is and how we can provide this until healthcare providers can get the proper supplies of equipment. - How 2500 people have already downloaded his 3D printer masks design and how those with 3D printers can work with medical professionals to help -Dr. Causey’s message of positivity.
