MELVILLE, N.Y.—Henry Schein recently announced that Steven W. Kess, vice president, global professional relations, and president of the Henry Schein Cares Foundation received the Lifetime Leadership Award from the New York State Dental Foundation (NYSDF).

Kess was recognized at NYSDF’s Foundation of Excellence Awards Luncheon on June 4, 2016 at the New York Marriott in Brooklyn, New York.

During the luncheon, Kess accepted his award in front of his peers from Henry Schein, New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) members and health care professionals from the dental community and addressed the importance of public-private partnerships to advance dentistry for the benefit of dental teams and their patients.

“I am honored to be recognized by the dental community that has been such an integral part of my personal and professional life and that does so much to improve the lives of others,” said Kess. “I am most proud of the community outreach programs that have been created to enhance access to care as a result of the public-private partnerships we have catalyzed at Henry Schein to influence social change. Through these partnerships, we have optimized the skills, resources and expertise of each sector to ‘help health happen and deliver care to those in need.’ Together, we can make a difference.”

Kess has a long history of supporting public-health outreach programs on behalf of Henry Schein, and is a co-founder of Henry Schein Cares, the company's global corporate social responsibility program. In recognition of his work, Kess was awarded a Presidential Citation by the American Dental Association (ADA). In 2013, the ADA created the Steven W. Kess Give Kids A Smile Corporate Volunteer Award to recognize outstanding achievement and commitment to the ADA Foundation's "Give Kids A Smile" program.

Kess is also the recipient of the 2015 Harry Strusser Memorial Award from New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD), the National Dental Association's 2014 President's Corporate Award, the 2014 Meritorious Service Award from the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, and has been recognized by the Friends of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, the Indian Dental Association (USA) Inc., and Dental Volunteers for Israel.
