You Should Know:
GoodMouth
by Chelsea Knorr, Associate Editor,
Dentaltown Magazine
Dentaltown Magazine sat down with Craig Lifschutz and Seth Keiles - the guys from GoodMouth. They told us all about the
company and we think you should know about them!
You are in an elevator. A man asks what your company
does. You have 15 seconds before the door
opens. What do you say?
Craig and Seth: GoodMouth helps dentists easily differentiate
their practice and build stronger bonds with patients
through the regular home delivery of toothbrushes, oral hygiene
kits and branded personalized oral health information.
Now the slightly longer version. Tell me about
GoodMouth, and what you provide.
Craig and Seth: GoodMouth is a toothbrush subscription
service that delivers the highest quality toothbrushes, floss and
oral hygiene kits, directly to patients' doors. We partner with
dental practices for three basic reasons: to make patients healthier,
to deepen the doctor-patient relationship with directed
e-mails and mailings, and to lower practice overhead. For
patients, GoodMouth is a premium experience that improves
homecare in a fun, convenient way.
What is the philosophy at GoodMouth?
Craig and Seth: We love big ideas that help promote oral
and systemic health, prevent sickness and provide assistance to
those in need. We want to help make those solutions simple and
widely available, and the regular replacement of a toothbrush
could be the best return on investment for your patients.
GoodMouth spreads the message of preventive care and provides
a solution while helping dentists grow their practices.
What is your background in dental?
Seth: I was fortunate to grow up with a father who was both a
dentist and an entrepreneur. After graduating from the University
of Pennsylvania with my wife, Dana, I moved back to San
Francisco and helped start a mobile dental company that delivered
comprehensive dental care directly to corporations in Silicon
Valley. I also co-founded a nonprofit that provided oral health care
to underserved populations. Today, I own a multi-specialty family
practice in Northern Westchester, New York, with my wife and am
the co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at GoodMouth.
Craig: I grew up around dentists. One of my parents' best
friends was a dentist and the idea for what became GoodMouth
occurred to me more than 20 years ago while I was sitting in his
office. I'm the founder and CEO of GoodMouth.
Tell us about the various options for dentists to do
business with GoodMouth.
Craig and Seth: Dental practices can implement GoodMouth
in a way that best fits their practice. GoodMouth can bill patients
directly or allow the practice to pay for some or all of its patients.
Both solutions offer significant benefits and typically cost less
than a latte per patient, per month. We also provide the option of
having patients sign up at the practice or sign up from home
(while still connecting them with their doctor).
What would you consider to be the "best kept
secret" about GoodMouth?
Craig and Seth: GoodMouth is a rare "win, win, win"
opportunity. It's good for the patients, the practitioners and the
practice. It also benefits the community at large via our Giving
Goodness Program. It's amazingly easy to implement and provides
immediate benefits.
Tell us about this "Giving Goodness" program.
Craig and Seth: As most dental practitioners are aware,
the dental crisis in the United States is staggering. For every
GoodMouth subscription purchased, we give away two toothbrushes,
or the equivalent in dental care, to communities in
need. It is a terrific way to give back to those who are the most
at risk for oral health disease. To support this cause, we carefully
select organizations that have a meaningful impact in
their communities.
How can a dental practice begin working with you?
Craig and Seth: Becoming a GoodMouth practice is incredibly
easy and highly impactful. We understand the challenges of
dental office workflow and have built GoodMouth to integrate
seamlessly with practices without being disruptive. Every aspect
of the GoodMouth program has been carefully designed to benefit
patients and the practitioners who care for them.
