Make sensitivity history with this new universal self-etching resin adhesive system created by Dr. John Kanca
Posted: August 27, 2002
Simplicity etches enamel, cut or uncut, like phosphoric acid and makes sensitivity a thing of the past. Simplicity is supplied in two bottles, Simplicity 1 and Simplicity 2. Simplicity 1 is applied to the dentin and enamel for about 10-15 seconds and the excess is blotted away. Simplicity 2 is then applied to the preparation and is air-thinned. The resin is then light-activated for 10 seconds. That’s all there is to it. The entire process takes about 30 seconds start to finish. Fewer steps help to insure success. There is no mixing and there are no supplemental catalysts. Everything you need for all your bonding efforts are in the one Simplicity kit. The use of Simplicity results in an incredibly thin layer of adhesive that makes white lines around composite vanish.

Simplicity is indicated for all classes of restorations, Class I, II, III, IV, V, and VI. Simplicity is indicated for deciduous as well as permanent teeth. Simplicity is indicated for direct restorations and because it is so thin, for bonded crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays and even posts. It will not accelerate the set of any crown or bonded-post resin cements, so you have a good deal of working time and less stress. Simplicity can be used for sealing crown preps, porcelain repair and is extremely effective at root and cervical desensitization, even in extreme cases.

Simplicity is compatible with all resin composite materials and compomers; light-cure, self-cure and dual-cure.

Dr. Gary Schoenrock, Director of the Midwest Dental Evaluation Group, says "In our office, bonding to combinations of enamel, dentin, porcelain, metal, and acrylic with light-cured and self-cured composite resins has necessitated that we inventory multiple bonding agents. It can be difficult for the doctor and the assistants alike to remember which bonding agents stick to what, when you can use each one, when and how long to leave on the components, whether to rinse or not, and other considerations. The penalty for straying from proper protocol with some of these complex bonding agents is extreme sensitivity, restoration failure, or creeping microleakage. Simplicity is a welcome relief from these constraints. It is easy and fast to apply, requires no mixing of components, and sticks to everything!! I plan on recommending Simplicity to doctors through my newsletter and seminars as the ONE bonding agent they need to inventory!"

Dr. Patrick Roetzer of Walnut Creek, California, a noted dental materials researcher, says “This system is truly what its name implies--Simplicity. I have enjoyed the no-nonsense application, speed of the process, and not least the end result. I am routinely coating all of my preps with this after cord packing ( be sure to make the temp outside the mouth) and the lack of sensitivity is truly remarkable. The interface of the composite on posteriors is exquisite. The desensitization of entire quadrants of perio exposed roots has never been so easy. John, you've done it again. Incredible.”
