Life is a juggling act for women in today's fast paced business environment, especially for professionals in the dental field. There's so much to manage - insurance issues, patient scheduling, human resources issues, technology, and the list goes on. It often seems an impossible task to keep the office running smoothly, stay on top of the latest dental knowledge and try to grow a successful practice.
It is with that dilemma in mind that Nancy DePaola, founder and CEO of Dynamic Administrators, a well-known practice management company in the Northeast, decided to launch The Women in Dentistry Association (WIDA). WIDA is a network of dental professionals that will offer support and guidance for women dental professionals within the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut). This includes everyone from women dentists, to front desk managers, hygienists, office managers and dental assistants - virtually all women involved in the dental field.
"Many women dental professionals were thrown into positions with little guidance and were left to sink or swim," DePaola explains. "In talking with many of them, I sensed their frustration at not having somewhere to turn for mentoring and assistance and trying to navigate what is a complex field. That is why I decided to combine my knowledge with that of other experienced industry leaders to help those in need who are seeking to provide the best for their practice and patients."
Nancy DePaola is a practice management consultant with 7 years in the dental field, performing virtually every task in a dental office beside that of practitioner. She combines that dental office experience with 11 years in corporations such as Reader's Digest and IBM to provide counsel to office managers, along with others WIDA leadership executives. Nancy and the other members can provide assistance on problem solving, practice management issues and overall operational issues as they arise.
WIDA will conduct a series of six seminars throughout the year, where members can participate in roundtable discussions and hear presentation from valuable industry speakers. The information they take with them will enhance both their professional and personal quality of life. WIDA will also act as a resource for hiring quality employees, which is a huge issue in the industry today. WIDA's bulletin board will post job listings and allow employers to browse for employees. WIDA's monthly newsletter will deliver the latest news and information and provide answers to frequently asked questions.
