Smile Reminder Announces Newsletter Creation Functionality Release
Posted: September 23, 2005
Newsletter creation and one-click delivery added as a free feature in the Smile Reminder patient messaging service

Smile Reminder, the pioneer in mobile practice-to-patient communications, today announced availability of newsletter creation and delivery functionality, enabling practices to create and deliver custom newsletters with only a few simple keystrokes. Smile Reminder also announced that this new functionality will be available free of charge for any practice, current or future, that subscribes to the Smile Reminder patient messaging service.
When coupled with Smile Reminder’s comprehensive messaging service, the availability of custom newsletter functionality will further enable practices to build their valuable relationship with their patients.
“One of the biggest challenges a dental practice has today is keeping in touch with their busy patients,” said Bruce McKay, vice president of Business Development at Smile Reminder. “Post cards and phone calls are becoming obsolete in today’s mobile society.  If a practice doesn’t have the ability to reach a patient via an email or a text message to their cell phone, they probably aren’t reaching their patient at all.  The technology is in place today to enable practices to present their patients with pertinent and helpful information without the traditional headaches of writing, printing, and mailing a newsletter.”
Customized Newsletters with the Click of a Button
Many practices have already benefited from mailing newsletters to their patients in the past, but the time and effort it takes to deliver a physical newsletter are significant.  And with the technology available to the vast majority of patients in the United States today, it is simply unnecessary to allocate all of that time and effort. 21st Century Dental, a very successful cosmetic dental practice in Irving, TX, recently began sending out electronic newsletters through Smile Reminder. “We used to send out physical newsletters,” said Kelly Haben, Practice Administrator at 21st Century Dental.  “It took us long enough to put together the information for the newsletter, but that was the easy part.  It took us so much time to print them, put them in envelopes, label and stamp them that it would dominate multiple hours of our time every time we sent one.  With Smile Reminder we can now select content or write our own and with the click of a single button it can immediately be in the hands of our patients.  It has made sending out a newsletter so easy that we now send them out every month.”
Newsletter Availability
The newsletter functionality update was driven by customer feedback and is part of Smile Reminder’s commitment to deliver truly valuable updates to our practices without any additional cost. Current Smile Reminder customers will have access to the newsletter function automatically and will not need to install any updates to access it.
