Monodont Mobile

Monodont Mobile Hits the Road
Posted: October 29, 2005

The Inventors of the Monodont Bridge have taken their mission on the road…literally. “This is an idea that I’ve had bouncing around in my head for years” says Monodont Co-Inventor, Dr. Maris J. Lans. “It was finally time to get the wheels rolling, so we did.”  Dr. Lans has essentially traded in his everyday vehicle for the Monodont Mobile, an off-lease 2003 Dodge Cargo Van that he and his wife located in Wisconsin . Dr. Lans took the plain white vehicle, sketched a rough idea, and handed the project to RipBang Pictures, the same people responsible for the Monodont website at www.monodont.net. “When they returned the artwork, I was jumping up and down like a little kid…it was great!” “I asked them to give me a design that was a cross between a bookmobile and a rock radio station promo van…and that’s exactly what they did.”  The Monodont Mobile not only gets Dr. Lans to the numerous study group presentations that he gives all over the country, it gets a lot of attention from the general public as it has also been designed to be a traveling exhibition. A roll-out canopy and display allow Dr. Lans to set-up shop at various venues including mall parking lots and county fairs. “I get stopped all the time by enthusiastic would be patients who want to learn more about it…the amount of action this vehicle gets obviously underscores the need for this treatment option” says Lans. His favorite response is the one he often gets on the road traveling (which is most of the time). The phone number on the Monodont Mobile rings inside the van…”Hands free, of course” adds Dr. Lans…”People are quite surprised to be able to talk to a real live Dentist.” Dr. Lans cheerfully answers any questions and always suggests that the caller visit the website as well as their Dentist as soon as possible to see if the Monodont Bridge may be an option for them. If he meets them in person, as is often the case at truck-stops for a fuel and coffee break, Dr. Lans takes the time to demonstrate the Monodont Bridge on models, and arms people with a simply-written brochure about the procedure, along with a key fob, perhaps a can-cooler to keep them reminded.  “We set out knowing full well that the Monodont Bridge would be a consumer driven product .” says Lans. “We’re now getting inquiries from various media outlets suggesting to us that the proverbial “tipping point” is pretty close at hand”.  The Monodont Mobile will be introduced to the Profession during the 2006 Chicago Mid-Winter Dental Meeting as part of a joint co-marketing promotion with Dental Arts Laboratories. Look for it.
