Stop using bad photos and stock photos on your dental practice website

Today I'm going to summarize one of my most popular articles, A Step-By-Step Guide to Taking High-Quality Website Photos That Get You Noticed & Drive Conversions

Great examples of dental practice websites with original photos and videos:

But don't rely on just any photos. You must work with an experienced photography pro to take great photos for your website. High-quality website images help you connect with potential patients.

Ask Yourself These Questions:

  1. Are you using any stock photography on your website?
  2.
  3. When did you last update the photos on your website?
  4.
  5. Are you featuring all of your current team or are there still photos featuring past employees on your website?
  6.
  7. Are your pictures blurry or pixelated?
  8.
  9. Did you optimize the file size of your photos?
When you don't invest in photography, you:

  1. Don't make a great first impression to patients
  2.
  3. Hurt the investment you made in your brand image
  4.
  5. Hamper your SEO efforts and slow down the loading time of your site
When you work with a skilled and experienced pro photographer, you'll:

  1. Benefit from their planning and expertise
  2.
  3. Get much better quality than a friend with an iPhone
  4.
  5. Receive a variety of images that can be used on your website and other advertising materials

4 Steps For Planning Your Photo Shoot

  1. Look at the big picture - Plan, plan, plan. Identify your needs, the style you like, and how you want the finished images to look.
  2.
  3. Choose a great photographer - Ask for referrals from colleagues. If you're still in doubt, check Google's recommended photographer list.
  4.
  5. Prepare your office - Will you be taking photos indoors and outdoors? Will the weather cooperate? Can you have friends/family stand in as patients? Will your office need any special staging? Will you have to close for a few hours — or maybe shoot on a Friday? Will your whole team be there? The key is to avoid wasted downtime on the day of the shoot. You're paying your photographer to take photos, not stand around because you planned poorly.
  6.
  7. Stay out of the way - You hired a professional photographer for a reason. They know what they're doing. Let them control the photoshoot and how things are being done.

Final Tips

Take photos that:

  • Show off high-tech equipment or things your competitors can't offer, but avoid scary photos of needles or instruments
  •
  • Create a sense of familiarity in potential patients — smiling faces, your waiting room, happy patients and your team together
  •
  • Are both posed and candid. The more options the better. Candid photos help potential patients see an unposed "sneak peek" of what to expect at your practice.
