The Dawson Academy Teaching Dentists How to Build the Right
TMD-Esthetic Practice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

St. Petersburg, FL – August 27, 2008 – The Dawson Academy can teach dentists how to recognize different states of temporomandibular joint breakdown and the impact that is has on treatment planning for esthetic and restorative dentistry.

A new two-and-a-half-day hands-on course addressing these topics, The TMD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction)-Esthetic Practice, will be given by Jim McKee, DDS.  The class will take place on October 27-29 at The Dawson Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida.

This hands-on course is part of The Dawson Academy’s Advanced Restorative Elective Track and is limited to 12 dentists.  The fee is $4,000 per student, and each student will receive 20 continuing education credits after completing the course.  Before taking this course, it’s strongly recommended that students take The Academy’s Functional Occlusion: From TMJ to Smile Design lecture and the Comprehensive Examination and Records hands-on course.

About the Hands-on Course
With the increased demand for esthetic services and with TMJ problems on the rise, especially in younger people, esthetic dentistry and TMD have become key elements in today’s restorative practice.  This course will combine lecture, workshop and hands-on learning to help transition a practice to a higher level of predictability and enjoyment for patients, staff members and dentists.

About Advanced Restorative Electives
Beyond the foundational clinical competencies developed in the Core Curriculum, the courses in this track are designed to develop the confidence and ability to successfully treat major restorative cases.  Advanced diagnosis and treatment planning, especially sequencing complex cases, is the hallmark of the programming in the Advanced Restorative track.  The specific how-tos of the most current materials, techniques and technologies are woven throughout these advanced offerings.
