Poor oral hygiene bacteria linked to heart attacks, study finds

Researchers found that bacteria, like viridans streptococci from dental plaque, can live in arterial plaques, potentially causing heart attacks. Poor oral hygiene may increase the risk of heart disease due to bacterial biofilms triggering inflammation in the arteries.
