Australian Doctors Trained for Antarctic Mission in Dental Care

Posted: September 3, 2025
Six Australian doctors have completed dental training before their deployment to four Antarctic stations later this year. The training course, conducted in Tasmania, covered patient oral assessments, radiography, trauma, filling, and extraction techniques. This marks a shift from past practices where Australian Antarctic Division doctors were trained in Victoria. Each of Australia's four Antarctic stations will have a doctor responsible for the health of expeditioners. The training aims to ensure the well-being of Antarctic doctors and expeditioners, aligning with Australia's Antarctic Strategy and 20 Year Action Plan.
